Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra Presents “Remembering,” a Free Concert at Spivey Hall
MORROW, GA — The Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra is inviting the community to experience an evening of music, reflection, and remembrance during its upcoming concert, Remembering, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Spivey Hall on the campus of Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia.
Admission is free, offering Clayton County residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy a live orchestral performance at one of metro Atlanta’s premier concert venues.

An Evening of Music That Tells a Story
Music has a remarkable ability to preserve memories, celebrate history, and honor the people and places that shape our lives.
The Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra’s Remembering concert will explore that connection through orchestral works composed to commemorate significant people, places, and events.
Under the direction of conductor Dr. Richard Bell, the orchestra will present a program featuring celebrated compositions alongside an original work honoring a respected Georgia music educator.
Featured Musical Selections
The evening’s program includes:
Jupiter from The Planets — Gustav Holst
An American in Paris — George Gershwin
Suite from Victory at Sea — Richard Rodgers and Robert Russell Bennett
Irish Suite — Leroy Anderson
Encore! — Richard Bell
Antiphon (In Memory of Ed Davis) — Jacob Lee
Audiences can look forward to a range of musical styles, from the sweeping orchestral sounds of Holst to Gershwin’s musical portrait of Paris.
A Special Tribute to Georgia Music Educator Ed Davis
One of the evening’s highlights will be the premiere of Antiphon, an original composition by Dr. Jacob Lee, assistant professor of music at Clayton State University.
Commissioned by the Southern Crescent Symphony Orchestra, the composition honors the late William Edward “Ed” Davis, a respected music educator, conductor, and co-founder of Tara Winds, an adult community band established in 1988.
Davis helped shape generations of musicians and contributed to the growth of music education throughout Georgia.
Dr. Lee’s composition reflects Davis’s musical legacy through prominent wind instruments and melodies influenced by traditional music from the British Isles.
The performance will offer a special opportunity to celebrate the lasting contributions of a local music leader.
