Six Clayton County Students Make History as Georgia’s First Cambridge AICE Diploma Recipients
Six students at Elite Scholars Academy in Jonesboro have achieved a historic academic milestone, becoming the first students in Georgia to earn the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma, according to Clayton County Public Schools.
The school district recently confirmed the statewide distinction, recognizing the students for completing a demanding academic program involving advanced coursework and internationally administered examinations.
The achievement follows three years of academic preparation and represents an important milestone for Elite Scholars Academy and Clayton County Public Schools.
What Is the Cambridge AICE Diploma?
The Cambridge AICE Diploma is an internationally recognized qualification designed to prepare students for higher education.
Unlike programs focused on a single academic subject, the AICE curriculum requires students to demonstrate proficiency across several disciplines.
Students must earn at least seven qualifying credits through Cambridge International AS and A Level examinations.
The required curriculum includes mathematics and sciences, languages, arts and humanities, and Global Perspectives & Research.
Cambridge International explains that the program is designed to develop advanced academic knowledge, research skills, critical thinking, and preparation for university-level studies.
Three Years of Academic Preparation
According to Clayton County Public Schools, the six students completed three years of demanding coursework and international examinations to earn their diplomas.
The achievement required sustained academic performance across multiple subject areas.
Elite Scholars Academy has also established a dedicated webpage recognizing the six recipients and displaying their photographs.

What Does This Achievement Mean for College?
Cambridge International AS and A Level examinations are recognized by colleges and universities throughout the United States and internationally.
Depending on the institution and examination results, students may qualify for college credit or advanced placement.
However, college credit is not automatically awarded simply because a student earns the AICE Diploma.
Each university establishes its own policies regarding examination scores and qualifying credits.
Families interested in these opportunities should review the requirements of their preferred colleges and universities.
