Forest Park and NASA Lifelines to Unveil New Downtown Mural on September 10
Downtown Forest Park is receiving a new public art piece that brings together local creativity, Earth science and community awareness.
The City of Forest Park and representatives from NASA Lifelines will hold an unveiling ceremony on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for a new mural located at 883 Forest Parkway.
The ceremony will be hosted by Forest Park Councilmember Delores A. Gunn, who represents Ward 2. Elected officials, community leaders and representatives from NASA Lifelines are also expected to attend.
A Local Artist with Forest Park Roots
The mural was painted by former Forest Park resident and artist Richard Martin. It was commissioned through NASA Lifelines, a six-year initiative led by DevGlobal in partnership with NASA.
NASA Lifelines connects humanitarian organizations and Earth scientists to improve crisis-related decision-making through satellite data and other tools. Its international mural program brings artists, nonprofits and residents together to show how Earth science can help communities prepare for and respond to challenges.
With the completion of the mural, Forest Park will join several other cities with NASA Lifelines murals, including Nashville, Washington, D.C., Detroit, St. Louis, New Orleans, San Andrés and Bogotá.
