CCPS Will No Longer Send Meals Home With Students Before ELBC Days
Beginning September 8, families must pick up lunch from a CCPS school between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Clayton County Public Schools families should be aware of a new meal distribution procedure for Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom, or ELBC, days.
In an official advisory dated September 3, 2026, CCPS Nutrition Services announced that meals will no longer be sent home with students before an ELBC day. Beginning with the Tuesday, September 8, 2026, ELBC day, families must pick up meals during a designated two-hour window.
What Families Need to Know
Under the new procedure:
* All CCPS schools will be open from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for meal pickup on ELBC days.
* Families may pick up meals for eligible CCPS students at any CCPS school—not only the school each student attends.
* ELBC meals will include lunch only.
* The person picking up the meals must provide each student’s name and school of attendance.
According to the district, families should check in at the school’s front office, proceed to the cafeteria, give the cashier the students’ names and schools, receive the meals and then return to the front office to check out.
How Is This Different From Last School Year?
During the 2025–26 school year, CCPS provided both breakfast and lunch for ELBC days.
Students received those meals at school before the scheduled at-home learning day. For example, students were instructed to pick up breakfast and lunch ahead of the September 2, 2025, ELBC day.
Under the new 2026–27 procedure, breakfast is no longer part of the ELBC meal offering, and advance distribution has been replaced by same-day lunch pickup.
Nutrition Services will continue providing meals, but families will now need to visit a school between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the ELBC day to receive lunch.
The ELBC dates listed by CCPS for the 2026–27 school year are:
* Tuesday, September 8, 2026
* Tuesday, November 3, 2026
* Monday, March 15, 2027
Students will remain home for asynchronous or independent learning on ELBC days while CCPS staff report to work.
