City of Jonesboro Schedules Three Hearings on Proposed Property Tax Increase
Jonesboro property owners will have three opportunities to attend public hearings concerning the city’s proposed 2026 property tax increase.
The City of Jonesboro has tentatively adopted a property tax rate of 12.500 mills. According to the city’s official notice, the proposed rate represents a 40.48% increase over the rollback rate.
That percentage compares the proposed millage rate with the rollback rate; it does not mean every homeowner’s tax bill will increase by 40.48%. The actual change will depend on factors such as the property’s assessed value and applicable exemptions.
The city estimates that the proposed rate would increase the property tax bill for a home with a fair market value of $200,000 by approximately $28.
Public Hearing Schedule
The three public hearings will be held on:
Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 6 p.m.
Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 5 p.m.
All hearings will take place at:
Jonesboro City Hall
1859 City Center Way
Jonesboro, GA 30236
No registration requirement is listed.
These hearings will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the proposed millage rate and express their views before the rate is finalized.
