Community Spotlight: Trina Kolawole, Experience, Service, and a Commitment to Clayton County’s Families

Clayton County thrives when leadership reflects both lived experience and professional expertise. This Community Spotlight features Trina Kolawole, a long-time resident, banking professional, civic servant, wife, and mother who is deeply committed to the future of Clayton County’s children and families.

For over 15 years, Clayton County has been home for Trina and her family. Trina and her husband have chosen to build their life, raise their children, and invest their time and energy right here in the community they care about.

Rooted in Family and Community

As a wife and mother of three sons, one preparing to enter middle school, one in elementary school, and one in preschool, Trina understands firsthand the importance of strong educational foundations, safe learning environments, and supportive systems for both students and parents.

She wants what every family wants, classrooms where children feel safe and challenged, teachers who feel supported, parents who feel heard, and leadership that listens and responds.

Because her children are walking through the same schools and programs as other Clayton County families, the outcomes matter personally.

She believes that when we focus on what is best for our children, we must also consider what is best for their parents, clear communication, transparency, accountability, and collaboration. Strong systems support not just students, but entire households. This is one thing that she learned while serving as an officer on the Mount Zion Primary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for two years.

17+ Years in Banking and Public Finance

With more than 17 years in the banking industry, Trina brings deep knowledge of public funds, government deposits, and the financial frameworks that help communities grow.

Her experience includes:

• Understanding how public funds are structured and protected

• Working closely with municipalities and public-sector organizations

• Supporting responsible financial management

• Analyzing complex government relationships

• Promoting long-term economic sustainability

She understands that strong institutions require fiscal discipline, strategic oversight, and thoughtful planning. Financial stewardship and accountability are not abstract concepts, they directly affect classrooms, programs, and resources available to families.

Serving as a Trustee for the

Clayton County Library System

As a Trustee for the Clayton County Library System, Trina supports one of the county’s most valuable educational and community resources. Libraries provide literacy programs, technology access, workforce development tools, and youth enrichment opportunities that strengthen families at every stage of life.

Her service on the board reflects her commitment to access, equity, and responsible governance.

Co-Founder of The Best of Clayton County

Trina is also the co-founder with her husband of The Best of Clayton County, a platform dedicated to sharing positive news about residents, small businesses, nonprofits, and unsung heroes throughout the county.

Beyond storytelling, The Best of Clayton County operates a growing volunteer group that actively serves within the community, supporting local initiatives, community events, and service projects that meet real needs.

The platform reflects her belief that when we highlight what is good, we strengthen what is working, and when we serve together, we build trust.

A Leadership Approach Focused on Children and Families

At the heart of Trina’s service is a simple priority, Clayton County’s children deserve every opportunity to succeed, and parents deserve leadership that is accessible, transparent, and solutions-oriented.

Her experience as a professional, a board member, a volunteer, and a parent allows her to see issues from multiple angles. She believes in listening before leading, reviewing data before deciding, planning for the long term rather than just the moment, and collaborating across families, educators, and community partners.

Clayton County’s future depends on thoughtful leadership that understands both numbers and people, policy and families, structure and heart.

For Trina Kolawole, this work is not theoretical. It is personal.
