Clayton County just received a major boost in community investment. Delta Air Lines and The Delta Air Lines Foundation have announced a groundbreaking $16.5 million philanthropic commitment to Clayton County, Georgia, over the next five years. This strategic investment supports education, workforce development, and nonprofit growth—all tailored to elevate the lives of nearly 300,000 Clayton residents.

Purpose-Driven Investment in the Heart of Metro Atlanta

Clayton County is home to more than 3,000 Delta employees and sits at the doorstep of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport and Delta’s global headquarters. Recognizing the County’s importance as a talent pipeline, Delta is doubling down on its support for Clayton's youth, workforce, and economy.

$13.5 Million in Grants from The Delta Air Lines Foundation

These funds will support:

  • A new Junior Achievement Discovery Center in collaboration with Clayton County Public Schools and Junior Achievement of Georgia

  • Flint River Boys and Girls Club

  • Scholarships for aviation career pathways through Middle Georgia State University’s School of Aviation

  • The Discovery Center, located at Southlake Mall’s under-construction Convocation Center, will immerse students in real-world simulations focused on business, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

$3 Million in Charitable Contributions from Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines will also contribute:

  • Workforce development resources through the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce

  • Expanded investments in Aerotropolis Atlanta to strengthen Clayton County’s economic position

  • A new Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundation to support local nonprofits

Investing in Education and Aviation Careers

With a $2.5 million Foundation grant to Middle Georgia State University, scholarships will be available for Clayton County high school graduates pursuing aviation. The university is part of Delta’s Propel Pilot Career Path Program, which offers students mentorship and a streamlined path to becoming Delta pilots.
