Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) is celebrating a major investment in student success after being awarded a $4.5 million grant from United Way of Greater Atlanta to support the Literacy and Justice for All: Clayton initiative.

The funding, which covers the period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, is expected to strengthen literacy efforts across Clayton County by providing resources, training, and support designed to improve reading outcomes for students.
According to the announcement, this grant will help expand literacy programs aligned with the Science of Reading, a research-based approach focused on helping children build strong foundational reading skills from an early age.
This investment could support several areas across the district, including:
✔️ Literacy coaches and intervention specialists
✔️ Teacher training and professional development
✔️ Books and classroom literacy materials
✔️ Family engagement and home reading resources
✔️ Early intervention programs for struggling readers
✔️ Community partnerships to promote literacy beyond the classroom

Literacy is one of the most important building blocks for lifelong success. When students can read confidently, they are better prepared academically, socially, and emotionally.
For families in Clayton County, this announcement brings hope for stronger support systems and improved opportunities for children across the district.
