Smith Elementary School Shares Important Back to School Information for the 2026–2027 School Year

As the new school year approaches, Smith Elementary School is helping families prepare with several important reminders about school procedures, upcoming events, and ways to get involved. Parents are encouraged to review the information below to ensure a smooth start to the 2026–2027 school year.
Clear Backpacks Required
Smith Elementary School will continue its clear backpack requirement for all students.
Please note: The school district will not provide backpacks, so families should purchase a clear backpack before the first day of school.
Cell Phone Policy
To help maintain a distraction free learning environment, student cell phones will be collected during the school day.
Parents are encouraged to leave phones at home whenever they are not absolutely necessary.
Updated Carline Procedures
For the 2026–2027 school year, Smith Elementary will operate with front carline only. Families should plan their morning drop-off and afternoon pickup accordingly to help traffic move safely and efficiently.

Open House
Parents and students are invited to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and prepare for the upcoming school year during Open House.
Date: Thursday, July 30, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Open House is a great opportunity to ask questions, become familiar with the school, and help students feel confident before classes begin.
Back to School Bash
Celebrate the start of a new school year at the district’s Back to School Bash.
Date: August 25, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: Morrow High School
Families can expect information, resources, and activities designed to help students begin the school year successfully.
Join the PTA
Smith Elementary is encouraging parents and guardians to become active members of the school’s award-winning PTA.
Membership Fee: $20
Joining the PTA is a meaningful way to support students, teachers, and school programs while staying connected with the school community.
