Georgia’s PLAY Card Program Connects Students With Books, Tutoring and More
Georgia students can access millions of books and valuable educational resources through the PINES Library Access for Youth Student Library Card Program, better known as PLAY.
Developed by the Georgia Public Library Service, PLAY is offered through partnerships between participating public library systems and school districts. The program helps students from Pre-K through 12th grade use public library resources at school, at home or inside their local library.
What Students Can Access
PLAY gives students access to:
Books and other materials from participating PINES libraries
Online reading and literacy resources
Homework assistance and learning activities
Tutoring and college-exam preparation
Career and job-readiness resources for teenagers
Materials that may not be available through their school library
Students may also request eligible items from other PINES libraries and have them delivered to their local library.
Easy Access Without Late Fees
In participating school districts, students are automatically enrolled and can use their student identification number as their library card number. Families may choose to opt out of the program.
PLAY accounts do not charge late fees for overdue materials. However, charges may apply when materials are lost or damaged.

More than 550,000 students have access
Approximately 300 PINES libraries participate across Georgia
The program has completed 72 partnership rollouts
Students can explore approximately 11 million available items
PLAY also supports schools by strengthening connections among educators, families and public libraries. The program extends learning beyond the classroom and gives students year-round access to educational resources.
Because PLAY is implemented through local agreements, families should contact their student’s school or local public library to confirm participation and receive the correct login information.
