Free SOAR HBCU Scholars Program Offers Summer Opportunity for Rising Seniors
Students interested in learning more about the HBCU experience have an opportunity to participate in the SOAR HBCU Scholars Program at Southern University Baton Rouge this summer.
The Jaguar Educational and Empowerment Initiative (JEEI) is offering a free, week-long residential summer program designed for current high school juniors who will be entering their senior year in the Class of 2027.

The program will take place July 12–17, 2026, and gives participants the chance to experience college life on the campus of Southern University while engaging in educational and leadership development activities.
To be eligible, students must:
• Be a rising high school senior (Class of 2027)
• Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Submit a 250–300 word personal statement
Families interested in applying should note the following deadlines:
• Priority Deadline: April 19, 2026
• Final Deadline: June 14, 2026
Programs like this help students explore higher education opportunities, develop leadership skills, and gain valuable insight into the college experience before graduation.
