Clayton County Public Schools is inviting the community to spend the day in Jonesboro for a First Friday Food Truck Event and the Grand Opening of the Jonesboro Rosenwald School Museum on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Clayton County Public Schools is inviting the community to spend the day in Jonesboro for a First Friday Food Truck Event and the Grand Opening of the Jonesboro Rosenwald School Museum on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at: Jonesboro Rosenwald School Museum 155 Smith Street Jonesboro, GA 30236 Bring your lawn chairs and make plans to enjoy food from local food trucks while exploring an important piece of Clayton County history. Guests will have an opportunity to tour the museum, learn about the history of the Jonesboro Rosenwald School, and spend time with the community throughout the day. A Piece of Clayton County History Originally constructed in 1931, the Jonesboro Rosenwald School was part of the broader Rosenwald School program that helped establish schools for African American students throughout the South during segregation. Today, the preserved building serves as a museum highlighting the educational experiences, families, teachers and community members connected to that history. Clayton County Public Schools currently manages the museum. CCPS is also looking to connect with people who attended the Jonesboro Rosenwald School or another Rosenwald School. Former students, family members or others with connections to Rosenwald Schools are encouraged to contact Dr. Mark Taylor at mark.taylor@clayton.k12.ga.us.
