Clayton County Schools Superintendent Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr. Selected for 2026 Education Impact Award
CLAYTON COUNTY, GA — Clayton County Public Schools Superintendent and CEO Dr. Douglas Hendrix Sr. has been selected to receive the 2026 Education Impact Award from the Association of Christian Ministers of Clayton County (ACMCC), recognizing his leadership, dedication to public education, and commitment to creating opportunities for student success.
The recognition celebrates Dr. Hendrix’s contributions to education and his continued efforts to support students, families, and the broader Clayton County community.
A Career Dedicated to Education and Community Leadership
With more than three decades of experience in public education, Dr. Hendrix has built a career centered on educational leadership, organizational improvement, and student achievement.
His professional journey began in the classroom before advancing into school administration and district-level executive leadership.
Throughout his career with Clayton County Public Schools, he has held several influential positions, including principal, Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Senior Deputy Superintendent/Chief of Staff.
Dr. Hendrix currently serves as Superintendent and CEO of Clayton County Public Schools, where his leadership focuses on strengthening educational outcomes, promoting accountability, and expanding opportunities for students.
His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Fort Valley State University, a master’s degree from Columbus State University, and a Doctor of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Recognizing a Commitment to Student Success
The Education Impact Award acknowledges Dr. Hendrix’s dedication to improving educational opportunities and supporting the next generation of students.
In announcing the recognition, Clayton County Public Schools highlighted his leadership and commitment to ensuring that students have the resources and opportunities necessary to achieve their goals.
Dr. Hendrix shared a message reflecting his philosophy on education and community responsibility:

His commitment to service extends beyond the classroom. Over the years, Dr. Hendrix has participated in mentoring, youth development, community engagement, and educational initiatives.
His previous honors include the President’s Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award, further recognizing his dedication to serving others.
Award Presentation Scheduled for December 4
Dr. Hendrix will be formally recognized during the 2026 ACMCC Scholarship and Awards Gala on Friday, December 4, 2026.
This year’s gala will also commemorate the Association of Christian Ministers of Clayton County’s 20 years of ministry and community impact.
The celebration will recognize leadership, service, and contributions that have strengthened the Clayton County community.
